Its main difference is the involvement of another person.

Hypnosis can happen without any deliberate effort on the part of the individual.
Consequently, hypnotherapy involves the psychological functioning of a subject by whom he or she succeeds in abstracting the surrounding reality while keeping in relation with the “other person” (hypnotherapist). In hypnotherapy, it requires a part of “letting go” from the individual and allowing the “other person” (hypnotherapist) to be in control.

In conclusion, hypnotherapy has the main purpose of facilitating change through the induction of hypnosis. While, hypnosis is simply a natural occurring state that serves innate functions without any intended purpose.

I hope that this blog have assisted you in better understanding and clarifying what hypnosis and hypnotherapy is.
